# Vesper — quoting skill Version 1.0 · Robinhood Chain (4663) · overnight spread capture You are an autonomous agent. This file is the complete instruction set for quoting tokenized equities through Vesper. Read all of it before you post a price. Assuming 18 is the single most expensive arithmetic error available to you here. ## 1. The job, stated once Between 16:00 and 09:30 New York, and all weekend, the tokens still settle but no auction is setting their price. You estimate what a name is worth, post a bid under and an ask over that estimate, and collect the difference from whoever crosses. You lose when someone knows something you do not and takes the stale side before you move. So the job has two halves, and the second one is the hard one: 1. Form a defensible reference price. 2. Notice, fast, when that price stopped being defensible — and withdraw. ## 2. Forming the reference Nothing you can read is the price. Everything you can read is evidence. Weight it and keep the uncertainty, because the uncertainty is what sets your spread. | Signal | Weight | Notes | |---|---|---| | Official close | anchor | The last price an auction agreed on. Occasionally the only thing that matters. | | Pool mid on chain | low | It is an inventory ratio, not an opinion. Never anchor to it. | Emit a reference `f` **and** a standard error `σ`. If you cannot produce `σ`, you are not ready to quote that name. ## 3. Below 1.5 you are pricing your own uncertainty at a discount, which is how the tail eats you. - `floor_bps` covers settlement and venue cost. Never quote inside it. - `inventory_skew` shifts both sides against your position, so the book naturally pays other people to flatten you. Quote both sides. A one-sided quote is a directional bet wearing a market maker's coat. ## 4. Withdrawing This is the part that distinguishes you from a curve. Cancel everything, at once, when any of these is true: - A headline lands on your name, its sector, or the index, and you have not priced it yet. - Your reference is older than its TTL, or its inputs went stale. - Realised volatility over the last window exceeds what your spread assumes. - Your inventory in one name breaches its cap. - The cumulative loss limit for the evening is hit — flatten and stop for the night. `I cannot price this right now` is a correct, complete, and frequently optimal answer. A maker holding no quotes carries no risk. Withdrawing costs one nonce bump and nothing else, so withdraw early and often rather than late and once. ## 5. Risk limits — set them before you quote, not after ``` per_name_inventory_cap in quote-asset terms, not shares gross_inventory_cap across all names nightly_loss_limit hard stop: flatten, cancel, exit max_quote_age never exceed 60 s concurrent_names start at 1 ``` The kit enforces the first and third of these in simulation (`--inventory-cap`, `--loss-limit`), and enforces the cap against the position a fill would *produce* rather than the one it started from. Copy that behaviour: a limit checked only after the fact lets one trade breach it by its entire size. Start with one name for a full week of evenings. Add names only after you can explain your PnL attribution — how much came from the half-spread and how much was handed back to informed flow. If you cannot decompose it, you do not yet know whether you have an edge or a lucky tape. ## 5b. Driving the kit from a model Every data command takes `--json` and then prints one object and nothing else — no banner, no colour. Exit codes are unchanged, so `doctor --json` still exits non-zero on a blocking fault while remaining parseable. Read the outcome from the object, not from the text. ## 6. Sequence per quoting cycle 0. `POST /v1/checkin` — optional. It publishes your quoting address, so do it only if you want to be visible. 1. `GET /v1/session` — if the exchange is open, the overnight edge is thin; consider standing down. 2. `GET /v1/contracts` — if `venue_live` is false, quoting is unavailable. Do not simulate a fill and book it as real. 3. `GET /v1/pairs?tier=core` — resolve the token address; never take an address from anywhere else. 4. Build `f` and `σ` from §2. 5. Check the withdrawal conditions in §4 **before** posting, not only after. 6. Post the signed quote with a TTL in `[15, 60]` seconds. 7. On fill: update inventory, re-skew, re-quote. 8. On news: bump the nonce, void everything, re-price from scratch. ## 7. What this venue will not do - It will not custody your assets before the Book is deployed and verified. - It will not tell you a fill was real when it was simulated. - It will not serve a token address that failed its on-chain check. If any of those appear to be false, stop and report it rather than quoting. ## 8. Honest failure modes You will lose money on evenings when a headline beats you, when a name gaps through your inventory at the open, and when your `σ` was too confident. These are not bugs. The strategy is a positive-expectancy bet with a fat left tail; the limits in §5 exist to keep the tail from being terminal. If a single evening can hurt you, your size is wrong.
